[Windows only] Now this doesn’t get any better than this, Stardock Fences is one of the best, in fact THE best tool available to date for organizing icons on a desktop which is very very easy to use and light on resources.
Although Stardock have quite a few very popular and useful software (primarily to change the looks of your windows computer) and I have used almost all of them sometime in the past or other in my life but I have not been a great fan of their products, mainly because these software are resource hogs and can slow down your computer. Its all a matter of personal choice and the level of customization you need for your computer but this one piece of software caught my attention and appreciation right after I read about it on internet and installed on my computer.
Fences is a very neat software which organize your desktop icon in separate sexy transparent windows after categorizing them according to the file type and hence you see a clean and organized desktop with your icons sitting nicely in the appropriate category window. Double click on any blank part of the desktop and all your Fences windows will be vanished and you will be left behind with only the desktop back ground, double click again and your Fences windows are back. As simple as that. (I tried it a few times just to see how the gorgeous Jessica Alba look without the icons on my desktop
)
The settings of Stardock Fences are pretty simple but enough for customizing your desktop just the way you like it. You can resize and drag and drop your windows with your mouse and re-label them. You can change the colors of the windows as well.
Hats off to Stardock for giving us such an awesome piece of software which is totally free for now but looking at the simplicity and usefulness of the software I am sure it will become popular very easily and Stardock might put a price up on this.
So grab this while you can by heading over to http://www.stardock.com/products/fences/
