[Windows only] Pismo file mount is a very useful little application which actually lets you mount any ISO or a zip file as a folder/directory where you can access the files in a read only mode as you may in any other windows folder.
Normally you need to extract zip files before you can work with the files enclosed in the archive or if you are working with an iso file it either needs to be burned to a CD or DVD or mounted to a virtual CD/DVD drive which in some cases can be a hectic process. Pismo allows you to mount these archives or CD image files as quickly as possible by simply right clicking and choosing the mount option from the right click menu. The good thing is you just save yourself the hassle of extracting these files and then deleting after you are done with these. Just un-mount and your files return to its original state instantly.
Pismo offer support for mounting ZIP, ISO, CISO, CFS, ISZ, DAA, and PFO files as virtual folders in the Windows file system. There could be quite a few other formats which we would like to mount just like that and RAR is one of them but unfortunately Pismo file mount doesn’t support it at this moment. Also although the mounting dialog allows you to mount the files with both read and write implications but I was unable to add or remove any file from the mounted folder and I think this is kind of a bug.
Anyway its a very useful application and has entered into my favorite applications list.
